2005-11-27: Released: Galena 2.0.0 - After more than 21 months i finally made a new Release. This release adds a completely new layer above the Galena1 Addin interface which makes Galena2 a framework for WebApplications and Content Management Systems (CMS). Galena2 builds upon Java 1.5 and makes heavy usage of Metadata to define addins and Java Reflection API. (While in the old system you need to add CommandHandler for every command, in Galena2 every command is representated as a method which as metadata associated and is called dynamically by the addin system.) Welcome to Galena!
Galena was designed as modular bot to serve commands on various protocols (jabber, irc, email, http, ftp).
Because of it's design it developed to a framework for server side applications,
esspecially web applications and Content Management Systems.
It is actually already usable as CMS (as demonstrated on this site) since it contains
addins like Wiki, Board, News, etc. This site is hosted on Galena, as well as various other projects (like http://goim.sphene.net ).
Current CMS modules include a Wiki, News, Board, User/Group management, etc.You may want to look at the Galena2Documentation which includes documentation of the basic principles of Galena2.
(Also note that Galena2 is currently not released, and can only be optained through Subversion. If you need help just contact me: herbert.poul@gmail.com )You may also check out the little outdated About section.
